La Ronde

La Ronde was my second year production at NYU in collaboration with the NYU Graduate Acting Program. Written by Arthur Schnitzler at the end of the 19th century, the play caused significant controversy as the primary subject matter was of sex. The play follows the circular sexual relations of ten couples in ten scenes.

For this production we stripped a good part of the dialogue and tried to pull focus to the intimacy of the scenes while keeping the stage picture as simple as possible. All ten scenes played in the same physical space and as such lighting played a significant role in establishing the movement of time and location as we follow the actors between the scenes.
